The Outer Cape Committee Against Domestic Abuse (OCCADA) is a group of individuals committed to helping the residents of Outer Cape Cod break the silence that accompanies domestic violence. OCCADA operates under the umbrella of Mass Appeal, a non profit lower cape organization dedicated to connecting people to their community by volunteering.
One of OCCADA's goals is to bring platforms for healthy discussion to our local schools, where students encounter some of the same problems as adults - isolation, small-town gossip, and a lack of activities in the winter. To this end, we are in process of establishing programs in Nauset Middle School and Provincetown High School. We hope to offer similar programs to students at the elementary level in the near future.
We also hope to bring speakers to the Outer Cape for discussions aimed at an adult audience.
